A Report On The Translation Of Consulting The Genius Of The Place:An Ecological Approach To A New Agriculture(Chapters Ten To Twelve)

This report is based on the translation of Consulting the Genius of the Place:An Ecological Approach to a New Agriculture(Chapters Ten to Twelve)by Wes Jackson,a leader of the international sustainable agriculture movement and the founder of The Land Institute in Kansas,introducing various cases.This book is divided into six parts,covering 16 chapters.The translator selects chapters 10 to 12 as the source text,which mainly talks about what measures should be taken to solve agricultural problems.Nida's functional equivalence theory is applied to guide the translation.This report consists of four chapters,namely,translation project description,process description,case analysis and summary.The first chapter mainly includes project background and significance.The second chapter describes the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,such as the data search,text type analysis and introduction of relevant translation theory.The third chapter,based on the functional equivalence theory,analyzes the representative cases in the translation materials.This part involves how to translate English into Chinese at lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.The fourth chapter summarizes the difficulties and insufficiencies of the translator in this translation practice and the enlightenment for future study and work of translation.
