In June 1902,Ta Kung Pao was founded in Tianjin,it dedicated to enlighten on national wisdom and disseminate of Western scientific thoughts.It is rooted in civil society and has become an influential medium in the social enlightenment in the late Qing Dynasty.Ta Kung Pao created a column and published vernacular article when it's started.The main writers are Ying Lianzhi,Ding Guorui,Liu Mengyang,etc.There are also some readers' contributions.These vernacular articles cover patriotism,gregariousness,against foot-binding,advocating women's studies,promote scientific,and anti-superstition.That reflects the intellectuals' concern for the underclass and development of national wisdom.Anti-superstition is one of the important ideological enlightenments in the late Qing Dynasty.Ta Kung Pao believes that to break superstition,it is necessary to open up the wisdom of the people.The underclass is the key for the society reform.The content of anti-superstition is also published in vernacular,in order to achieve the best effect of opening up the people's wisdom.Ta Kung Pao published a large number of vernacular articles,exposing and criticizing the superstitious phenomenon of civil society.Ta Kung Pao also links anti-superstition with the destiny of the country.It is believed that only by carrying out social enlightenment can we break superstition and China can be prosperous.Ta Kung Pao recognizes the important role of science in waking up the nation and revitalizing China.Since its publication,it has paid great attention to the popularization and introduction of scientific knowledge,and has taken on the responsibility of propagating scientific knowledge to the general public,and has introduced astronomy,geography,biology,human body and other aspects of scientific knowledge to readers,the content is very rich.Ta Kung Pao has explained many superstitious phenomena in a scientific way,and mostly used vernacular,has made a contribution to breaking down the superstitious beliefs of the underclass.Since the superstitious thoughts were still very popular at that time,the scientific concepts promoted by Ta Kung Pao could not be deeply rooted in people's minds.Therefore,Ta Kung Pao argued that education must be developed in order to solve the current problems.When the disease is endemic,civil society usually ward off the disease by worshipping Buddha.Ta Kung Pao records the various diseases and social impacts of modern outbreaks,directly participates in epidemic prevention work,and proposes scientific and effective treatments such as setting up hospitals,maintaining public health,and paying attention to personal hygiene.Ta Kung Pao introduces many Western hygiene knowledge,promotes scientific and healthy concepts,makes people aware of the causes of disease transmission,and can scientifically respond to diseases,no longer relying on burning incense and worshipping Buddha.In order to completely eliminate people's superstitious behaviors in disease and health,Ta Kung Pao also published a number of vernacular articles,which are popularize health knowledge and health methods to people.The vernacular of Ta Kung Pao is closely related to life,closely following current events,and is highly targeted,which is easy to attract people's interest in reading.There are many easy-to-understand examples in the article,which are developed by small things encountered or seen in daily life,making it easy for readers to understand and accept.Ta Kung Pao also specifically proposed the superstitious behavior of female groups and published many vernacular articles criticizing and opposing women's superstitions.In addition,anti-superstition through religion is also one of the characteristics of Ta Kung Pao.Ta Kung Pao combines vernacular and anti-superstition,as an important carrier and means of social enlightenment,made positive contributions in the anti-superstition movement in the late Qing Dynasty.
