This translation report is about translating English into Chinese.The selected material is from Mark Twain's autobiography,Who Is Mark Twain,Which is an autobiography mainly about Mark Twain's writing experience and the current social background.This report is based on chapter one and two,guided by functional equivalence,chapter one and two of the autobiography mainly about Mark Twain's writing experience and the current social background.The autobiography is full of emotion,and dialogues of characters and condition description appeared a lot.At the same time,the writer used oral American meanins of some words.To solve these difficulties in the process of translating,the translator chose functional equivalence theory as guidance in translationThis report is divided in five parts.The first part is the introduction of the translation task In this part will introduce the resource of the task,the author and brief content of the novel.The second part is the process of translation.And this part is consisted of pre-translation,translation and post-translation.Pre-translation will introduce the analysis of task and preparation job,the specific translation process,and correction in post-translation.The third part is the theory of translation.This part will include the reason why the translator chose functional equivalence theory as guidance,the definition of functional equivalence theory and how it is used in the process of translation.The fourth part 1s the case analysis.The translation will choose some representative examples to express the use of functional equivalence theory in translation.The fifth part is conclusion.In this part will conclude the advantages and disadvantages in this task.
