The major museums in China have a large collection of buddhist statues of gold and copper from the Ming dynasty.However,at present,there are few research results about this type of cultural relics,and few of them have been opened.The museum collection of buddhist statues of gold and bronze from the Ming dynasty not only provides precious material materials for us to understand the characteristics of the era,artistic characteristics and historical value of them,but also provides rare research materials for further research on the casting process of buddhist statues of bronze from the Ming dynasty,the development of Buddhism in the Ming society and its secularization.Taking the new materials of buddhist statues of gold and copper in Ming dynasty collected in shanxi museum as the research object,the author summarizes the style characteristics and evolution rules of buddhist statues of gold and copper in Ming dynasty by using the methods of archaeology typology,standard ware science,image science and comparison,so as to establish the staging of buddhist statues of gold and copper in Ming dynasty collected in shanxi museum.Combined with the previous research experience and results,the casting and processing technology of the buddhist statues of gold and copper in the Ming dynasty were further discussed by visual observation of the objects.First of all,based on the different themes and contents of buddhist statues in the Ming dynasty,this paper classifies and studies the buddhist statues of gold and bronze in the collection of shanxi museum.The second,the author also sorted out some of the published statues with clear inscriptions,and summarized the characteristics,stages and evolution rules of the buddhist statues of gold and copper in the Ming dynasty.Then,with the help of the chronology of the standard vessels of buddhist statues in Ming dynasty with inscriptions,the author further speculated the chronologyof the buddhist statues in Ming dynasty collected in shanxi museum.Finally,combined with the previous research results and experience,the foundry and processing technology of the gold and copper buddhist statues in the collection of the Ming dynasty are preliminarily studied.
