A Study On C-E Translation Of The Culture-Loaded Words

This thesis is a C-E translation report on the book The Study on the Folk Custom Fusion of the Mongolian-Han Nationalities in the Process of Zou Xikou Migration.The author selects some parts in this book as the translation materials and the selected parts for translation include the Chapter Six Folk Customs in Marriage and the Chapter Seven Folk Customs in Belief.The content covered in these parts is rich and informative,with various forms of language,distinctive characteristics and special features of folk customs,which is vividly embodied by the culture-loaded words that appear frequently in the text.The cultural background and extended meaning behind the culture-loaded words are not understood by target text readers,which requires the translator to solve this problem.Therefore,during the translation process,the culture-loaded words with rich cultural background inevitably become the focus and difficulties of translation practice and that is determined by its content and nature.Based on the content and characteristics of the source text,the author reviews the culture-loaded words frequently appearing in the text,and then analyzes these culture-loaded words.Under the guidance of cultural translation theories and from the perspective of foreignization strategy,this thesis analyzes the specific translation methods in order to convey the source text information faithfully and fluently,to retain the cultural characteristics to the maximum extent,so that the readers can better understand the original folk culture.This practical report selects some typical examples of culture-loaded words for analysis,presenting detailed translation process and modification process,as well as summarizing the translation experience.After this practice,the author believes that we needs to deeply understand the original text information,understand the historical and cultural background,delve into the connotation of culture-loaded words and then choose the best version after comprehensive consideration when carrying out relevant folk translation activities The author hopes that this effort can provide reference for future translation practice,promote the inheritance and transmission of folk culture,and contribute to the spreading of Chinese culture.
