There are many beautiful scenic spots in Lingchuan County,Shanxi Province.With the further development of reform and opening up,more and more tourists from other countries come here to have a visit,which certainly can promote the development of the tourist industry of Lingchuan County.However,it also brings some challenges to Lingchuan,including the translation of its tourism texts.At present,many introductions to scenic spots in Lingchuan County have not been translated into English or have been translated improperly,making it difficult for overseas tourists to learn about and be fond of these scenic spots.Therefore,it is imperative to translate those tourism texts correctly to tell target text readers the reliable information of these scenic spots.The source text in this report involves the Introduction to Xiyagou Scenic Area in Lingchuan County.There are many culture-loaded words in the source text and translating them appropriately is a tricky task,so this report is aimed at studying it systematically.Tourism translation belongs to pragmatic translation,which has high practical value and is aimed at passing on the information of scenic spots to potential overseas tourists and attracting them to come to have a visit.Thus,the author holds that the Skopos Theory raised by German functionalist Hans J.Vermeer is the most suitable theory to guide the translation of the source text,especially the culture-loaded words included in it.In conclusion,the report is aimed at studying the translation of culture-loaded words,including place names,scenic spot names,culture-related people's names and four-characteridioms in the Introduction to Xiyagou Scenic Area under the guidance of the Skopos Theory.During the translation process,the author used different translation methods to deal with different culture-loaded words to guarantee that the most suitable translation method is adopted so that the target text can be understood by its readers.Only if those culture-loaded words are translated appropriately can overseas tourists have a better understanding of this scenic spot in Lingchuan County and thus promote the development of Lingchuan's tourist industry and the transmission of its culture.The author hopes this report can be beneficial for the translation of other tourism texts,especially the culture-loaded words in them.
