This report is written on the basis of the translation of Simon Schama's The Face of Britain Part I.The author fully illustrates the whole translation process though four chapters,including task description,task process description,case analysis and conclusion.With rhetorical language and complex sentences,The Face of Britain involves British history,society,customs and religions.The translator has met many translation problems during the translation process,especially during the translation of culture-loaded words and adverbial clauses.In the chapter of case analysis,with the examples from her translation,the author dissects and elaborates the translation problems of material culture-loaded words,social culture-loaded words,religion culture-loaded words,as well as adverbial clauses of concession and adverbial clauses of time.To solve these problems,the author uses amplification method,free translation,annotation and so on.When dealing with the translation problems in the adverbial clauses,the author uses the method of linear translation,word order adjustment,and free translation.The author hopes to come up with some useful and meaningful suggestions and solutions to the translation of culture-loaded words through this report.Hopefully,this report will have some referential value to other translators translating similar texts.
