According to the “All Yuan Poetry” statistics on the number of poets in Jiangsu, the birthp lace of 397 poets is Jiangsu Province. The number of poets in southern Jiangsu is 342,which is significantly higher than that in northern Jiangsu. There are 198 poets in Suzhou, which is the city with the largest number of poets in Jiangsu. The number of poets from large to small is Wuxi,Changzhou,Zhenjiang,Yangzhou,Xuzhou,Nanjing,Huai’an,Taizhou,Nantong,Suqian and Yancheng. The number of poets in Suzhou is much larger than in other regions, reflecting the uneven distribution of the geographical d istribution of poets in Jiangsu. The identity of the poet inc ludes Buddhism, ethnic minorities, and female poets. There are 47 Buddhist and Taoist poets, mainly concentrated in Suzhou. In the Yuan Dynasty, there were 22 scholars in Jiangsu Province, and more than three were in Suzhou,Changzhou,Zhenjiang and Xuzhou.Their d istribution was basically consistent with the geographical distribution of poets. The number of poets indicates the imbalance of cultural development. The geographical distribution of Jiangsu poets in the Yuan Dynasty was due to factors such as geography, economics, politics, society, and historical inheritance. From the perspective of geographical factors, the water system in Jiangsu Province is staggered, and the developed land and water III transportation promotes the exchange of poets. The division of the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River caused regional d ifferences in the southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu.Due to the influence of the Yellow River, the living environment in northern Jiangsu was poor. From the perspective of economic factors, the number of people, agriculture, hand icrafts, commerce, taxation in various places and the number of poets have shown a certain correlation. From the perspective of political factors, the war has more damage to the northern Jiangsu region, while southern Jiangsu is relatively stable. From the perspective of social factors, the college and the literary family are more in the southern part of Jiangsu. From the perspective of historical inheritance, cultural origin has an important influence on southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu.By comparing the number of poets and cultural differences between southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu,it is found that northern Jiangsu is north of the Yangtze River and closer to Qilu and Zhongyuan in geography,so the poet’s character and poetry style are deeply affected. The southern part of Jiangsu is closer to Zhejiang’s poetic style and more literary exchanges, reflecting the influence of geography on literature. With the first year of Yanyou as the boundary, the number of poets in the late Yuan Dynasty increased by 3.81,ind icating that the development of literature in the late Yuan Dynasty was more prosperous. This is related to a series of reasons such as the restoration of the imperial examinations in the late Yuan Dynasty, the rule of the ruler and the natural growth of the number of poets.During the period of the stagnation of the imperial examinations, the exchange activities between poets continued to be frequent, indicating that the impact of the imperial examinations on lit erary activities was extremely complicated. The literary activities outside the province that the Jiangsu poets partic ipated in are mainly in the form of the collection of poems on the same subject, includ ing the painting poetry, poetry competition, the poetry prais ing the landscape, and the poetry praising the filial family.
