Burial Archaeology is an important part of Archaeology. The Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties tombs in Jiangsu and Anhui Province were a primary component among the tombs in the same period. The study through tomb structure, funerary objects and cultural factors reflects the development of political economy and culture, and offers some in-depth insights into history of Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.Su-Wan Area includes Shanghai and Jiangsu and Anhui Province today. Based on the original materials have been found since the foundation of People’s Republic of China, this article did preliminary research on Tomb of the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties in Jiangsu and Anhui Province. Through the research on Tomb allocation and Tomb selection, we found out that most Tomb were distributed along developed land and water transportation routes, where were Yangzhou-Suzhou-Nanjing at that time, especially were distributed on suburban hills and mounds.Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties tomb in Jiangsu and Anhui Province can be divided into two types in terms of construction forms and materials, which are Rectangle Tomb and Brick Tomb. Wooden coffins and funerary objects were placed in the Rectangle Tomb. Brick Tomb was divided into 5 types according to tomb floor plans.There were large quantity and abundant funerary objects in Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties tombs in Jiangsu and Anhui Province. This article conducted Archaeological typology study on chinaware, copperware (include copper), gold, silverware, and epitaph. Chinaware is the major part of the funerary objects. This article selected some common types of funerary object such as kettles, pots, bowls, plates and tomb figures.The Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties tombs has strict hierarchy. Different periods of legislation had different divisions. This article divided tombs into 5 categories.The development of religion embodies religious factors in tombs in Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, such as Chinese zodiac figurines, bronze mirror, beast guarding the tomb. Buddhism and Taoism were embedded in all of funerary objects. Central China, was a political and economic center in the Tang Dynasty. Tombs in that area were very representative. This article compared tombs between Jiangsu and Anhui provinces and Central China. The differences in both economic and cultural development were reflected through tombs.
