So far,the research results on the issue of unemployment relief are relatively weak.In fact, there are two sides to this problem--unemployed workers and their relief. At present, researches on the problem of unemployed workers mainly focus on the period from 1927 to 1937.The research on the post-war relief mainly focuses on the macro relief measures, relief agencies and post-war refugee relief.Compared with this,it is far from enough to study the severe unemployment situation faced by the national government after the war,the living situation of the unemployed workers in specific cities after the Anti-Japanese War and the relief situation of the unemployed workers.Based on the above reasons, this paper selected the issue of unemployment relief for workers after the war of resistance against Japan as the object of study, and focused on Wuhan and Shanghai, two important industrial cities at that time, starting from a large perspective, small. At the same time, the author hopes to gain some enlightenment through the in-depth discussion of the unemployment and relief of the workers in these two cities.Starting from the nationwide unemployment panic after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War,this paper first analyzes the situation and causes of the unemployment of workers nationwide from an overall perspective, and then focuses on the unemployment of workers in Wuhan and Shanghai in this context. When the seriousness of the unemployment problem of workers and the urgent need to relieve the unemployed workers became the social consensus, the government also tried to assume the social function and adopted various measures to relieve the unemployed workers. The governments of Wuhan and Shanghai have adopted a variety of ways, such as relief, work relief, small loan and job introduction.Meanwhile, the unemployed workers also actively seek sympathy from the society and strive for the opportunity to return to work in order to obtain relief.Although the municipal governments of Wuhan and Shanghai have adopted many similar measures to relieve the unemployment of workers, there are obvious differences in relief work between the two cities. This paper also selects a typical Shanghai street vendor event to focus on the role of unemployed workers, and to some extent reveals that the effect of the government's handling of unemployment relief is not ideal.Of course, there is no denying that both Wuhan and Shanghai municipal government for relief workers spent huge manpower, material resources, financial resources, and produced some positive effect, but because of the aftermath of the war of resistance against Japan, the Kuomintang is faced with political, economic and military aspects of the situation was complex,so it would not make remedy shall provide a stable social environment and powerful economic support, plus many relief measures just to stay on the surface, can't really implemented, more can't really benefit the unemployed workers,as a result, the national government relief of unemployed workers, its actual effect is very limited.
