Simultaneous interpretation requires the interpreter to follow the speaker as fast as possible and handle multiple tasks of listening, understanding and expression simultaneous.Anticipation,as a strategy of simultaneous interpretation, can effectively relieve the brain pressure of interpreters and improve the quality of translation. In recent years, schema theory has been applied to the study of anticipation in simultaneous interpreting,in which the positive effect of schema on anticipation was discussed from different angles. The paper thus selects the subtitle of the 60th Grammy Awards broadcasted by Tencent Video in real-time as the research material to discuss the application of schema theory in TV simultaneous interpreting.Compared with conference simultaneous interpreting,TV simultaneous interpreters are facing more pressure because they often serve thousands of viewers in front of the TV.In addition,TV simultaneous interpreters have more information channels, such as TV pictures and shot cuts, which can provide some effective information for interpreters..The report mainly adopts the method of case study. The author analyzed the characteristics of the source text corpus, summarized the prediction methods that can be used, and then specifically discussed how to use various schemas to accurately predict through case analysis.Based on Carol’s classification of schemata, this paper mainly discussed the effects of language schemata, content schemata and structural schemata on the anticipation in simultaneous interpreting, which includes the intra-lingual anticipation through set phrases, logical words and grammatical structures, and extralingual anticipation through background knowledge of the theme and the speakers, and commonly used declarative expressions in discourse. The first chapter of the thesis mainly introduces the research background, significance and structure. The second chapter is literature review, which introduces the previous researches on the application of schema theory in translation and TV simultaneous transmission. The third chapter is the theoretical framework, which theoretically discusses the definition of schema theory, the classification of schemas, the definition and classification of anticipation strategies of simultaneous interpretation, and the relationship between schema theory and simultaneous interpretation anticipation strategies. The fourth chapter is the main body of the thesis. The author, based on relevant theoretical framework, takes the 60th Grammy Award Ceremony as the material to select cases for detailed analysis, discussing the application of various schemata in anticipation in TV simultaneous interpreting. The conclusions of this research are as follows:first, language schemata have a positive effect on intralingual prediction, while content schemata and structure schemata have a positive effect on extralingual prediction;second,in TV simultaneous interpreting, the frames and shot cut could provide some hints for the interpreters to activate the relevant schemata in his mind;third, the interpreters could make use of these schemata to predict the specific information, adjust the sentence structure of the translation in time or predict the overall structure macroscopically. In a word, anticipation can help interpreters relieve brain pressure since it can ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of information transmission without hearing complete sentences.Besides,it could also make the translation more authentic, thus improving the quality of the translation.
