A Study Of Qimen Tea Merchants In The Late Qing Dynasty And The Early Republic Of China(1863-1915)

This paper mainly studies the social activities of Qimen tea merchants in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,and takes it as an opportunity to explore the ups and downs of modern tea merchants in that turbulent era.This article takes the development of Qimen Tea Merchants as the main thread,combing according to the time sequence,there are four important time nodes.First,in 1863,it was the time for the army of the Peaceful Heavenly Kingdom to withdraw from Qimen.At this time,Qimen is awaiting a lot of waste.Tea merchants are facing difficulties because of their single products and poor sales.Secondly,in 1875,Hu Yuanlong succeeded in developing Qimen black tea,which broadened the varieties of Qimen tea and laid a foundation for the revival of modern Qimen tea merchants.Thirdly,in 1900,the Boxer Movement in China had not stopped in that year,and the war of aggression against China by the Eight-Power Allied Forces had begun again.In addition,foreign businessmen's obstinate and reckless use of a series of trade protection policies to suppress Qimen tea merchants,Qimen tea merchants gradually declined.For the first time in this year,Qimen black tea showed negative growth in trade.The last time was 1915,which was the year of Qimen tea merchants'self-help and the most glorious year in the early days of Qimen black tea.This year,Qimen black tea represented Qimen,China,went to Panama to attend the World Exposition and won the gold medal.Since then,Qimen black tea has made a short progress and kept moving forward in twists and turns.As far as the main body is concerned,the article is divided into five chapters,which basically clarifies the background of each period,and puts Qimen tea merchants under various backgrounds to analyze and dissect the plight and hope of tea merchants under each era background.The first chapter,as the introduction of background,analyses the unique business environment of Qimen County.From the natural environment and social environment two major aspects of analysis.The second,third and fourth chapters of the article narrate in chronological order,and explain the characteristics of Qimen tea merchants in different time periods in detail.Through the analysis of different characteristics of tea merchants in each period,a complete outline of the growth track of Qimen tea merchants was drawn.To the conclusion of the article,it mainly consists of two aspects.On the one hand,it points out that Qimen tea merchants have the following characteristics,on the other hand,it is the Enlightenment of Qimen tea merchants to today's tea merchants.We should not only affirm the precise grasp of the opportunity of Qimen tea merchants in this special period,affirm their emphasis on optimizing the structure,and be able to move in a timely manner,but also see the spirit of "Hui Camel" on Qimen tea merchants who are willing,practical and hard-working,see their emphasis on industrial development,their eforts to improve efficiency,and more importantly,their"Preparedness for Rain".Spirit,know how to go abroad to participate in exhibitions and other ways to enhance Qimen black tea fame.Really learn from history.This magnificent history of Qimen tea merchants has gradually been buried in the dust of history.This article pays the highest tribute to Qimen tea merchants,Qimen Huizhou merchants and even the whole Huizhou merchants group.
