The Chinese-English translation report is based on Introduction to the Culture of Guizhou(excerpts),written by Professor Yang Ming,Professor Wang Shizuo,etc.It systematically and comprehensively introduces all aspects of the culture of Guizhou from ancient times to the present.The original text,excerpted the introduction,the first section of the third chapter,the first section of the seventh chapter with a total of over 10,000 Chinese characters introducing the legend,development,fall and values of Yelang Culture.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory,the translator read the original text and parallel texts,and gathers background information related to the original text,carries out in-deep studies on the expressions of cultural load words,Chinese Proper names and Chinese classic style of writings from the perspective of lexical,syntactic,textual,and stylistic equivalence.Finally,the conclusion is made that translation methods and techniques should be combined with the relevant contexts and specific conditions flexibly in order to maintain the original style and fully reach the Functional Equivalence to the maximum degree.The translator tries her best to present the translation not only reproducing the receptor language the closest natural equivalent of the source language but also manifesting the culture of Guizhou in her translation process so that she can do her best for the development of English translation of the culture of Guizhou by her translation practice.
