An Investigative Study On Redevelopment Of English Textbook

The English textbooks used in senior high school are seen as guides and lighthouse to students' learning and teachers' teaching.Textbooks are the core part of the English curriculum resources.In accordance with the guidance and advice of the New Standard of English Curriculum(2017),the content of the textbook should be flexible and diverse.Teachers should use the teaching materials flexibly and creatively to truly change the concept of “teaching materials” to “teaching with textbooks”.Therefore,textbook redevelopment has become an essential skill for senior high school English teachers to make full use of teaching resources and improve teaching effectiveness.The purpose of this study is to explore the relevant problems of senior high school teachers in textbook redevelopment.In this paper,a descriptive qualitative method is used to investigate the basic concepts,strategies and usage of the current English teachers in the textbook redevelopment in the way of questionnaire survey and interview.It is found that English teachers from senior high school lack the relevant theoretical concepts and the skills of strategy selection and application in the process of textbook redevelopment.In their teaching process,systematic training and guidance on the adjustment and utilization of teaching materials are to be developed.The study believes that teachers need to change the teaching concept according to the requirements of the new curriculum standards,and have basic knowledge and methods about the system theory and implementation of the textbook redevelopment.On the other hand,the school should give teachers related training and improve schools' construction of the curriculum resources so as to help the teachers to better carry out the teaching materials redevelopment.The author hopes that through this study,it can provide with some enlightenment and reference to the textbook redevelopment for teachers and schools.
