Various merchandise enriches our daily life.As an informative instruction text,instruction books of these products are indispensable for guiding consumers to understand and use the products correctly by providing product-related information including characteristics,performance,applications,usage,precautions,which has offered tangible help.This translation project is a summary of translation practice based on the commissioned text AVL 439 Opacimeter Operating Manual under the guidance of Skopos Theory.The thesis consists of five parts: Introduction,Process Description of the Translation Project,Theoretical Basis,Case Study and Conclusion.In the translation process,through the detailed analysis of the features of the original text,under the guidance of the Skopos Theory,on the basis of literal translation strategies and with the use of translation skills such as conversion,omission,interpretation,reconstruction as a supplement,the author emphatically analyzes the flexible use of verbs in English instruction books from the perspective of vocabulary and balances the interlanguage connection from the syntactic and discourse level,in order that a number of difficulties in the translation of instruction books can be solved.This translation practice project further improves the author's understanding of translation theories and greatly enhances the author's translation ability and quality through combining theory with practice.The adoption of translation theories,translation strategies and techniques in this report also provides useful references for the translation of informational texts.
