This translation is the scientific text,which aims to convey information with accurate language,strict structure and strong logicality.With the rapid development of Chinese science and technology,the translation of scientific texts plays an extremely important role in related area for Chinese scientists and technicians to understand and study foreign advanced science and technology.As environmental-friendly materials,the application of flame retardants has great significance in the field of science and technology.This report starts with the translation of Flame Retardants(Section 1 of Chapter 2 and Chapter 4),analysis the characteristics of words,sentences and text in details and discusses translation strategy of scientific texts from the perspective of Skopos theory.The practice report consists of six parts.The first part is the foreword,a brief introduction to this translation practice and the status of science and technology translation in China and other countries;The second part introduces the whole project,including the project background,text analysis,project scheduling,the purpose and significance of the translation practice;The third part describes the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process,and post-translation review;The fourth part employs the three principles of Skopos theory and discusses the guiding role of Skopos theory in scientific translation;The fifth part analyses the cases;The last part summarizes the author’s enlightenment in this translation practice and perception of the scientific translation under the guidance of Skopos theory.
