With the continuous development of globalization and the deepening of China’sopening to the outside world, more and more foreign tourists have been attracted byChina’s rich natural landscape and long historical culture, and choose China as theideal tourist destination. China’ tourism develops rapidly. Anhui province hasabundant tourism resources, such as the charming natural scenery landscape, humanlandscape with Chinese characteristics such as Buddhism, Taoism, Hui Culture and soon. How to convey the beauty and unique landscape in Anhui province vividly andobjectively to foreign friends, making them feel like being personally on the scene, toachieve the goal of publicity and communication is the theme of the research. Thetranslation, guided by the functional skopos theory, makes use of a variety oftranslation methods and techniques to reproduce the aesthetic feeling as the originaltext does and to attract more foreign visitors to take tourism in China. In other words,the goal of the research is to promote our tourism development and culturetransmission between China and foreign countries.The report is consisted of four parts. The first part is the introduction. The secondpart introduces the research background, analyzes the original translation text, andexplains the possibility to make functional skopos theory as the guidance of tourismtranslation. The third part analyzes the difficulties the author encountered in theprocess of translation: the translation of Chinese four-character structures. Combinedwith the concrete translation examples, guided by the functional skopos theory, thethird part also summarizes translation strategies and methods applied to four-characterstructure translation in tourist materials. The fourth part is the summary of theauthor’s research, including the major findings and the limitations of the research.
