| Husserl’s “essential intuition” is about how to know directly to the essence of things, while Hui-neng’s “insight into Buddha” is about realizing oneself as a Buddha. Both are about the problem of “seeing”,and both are expounded from three aspects: “the purpose of seeing”,“what to see” and “how to see”.Therefore, this paper aims to carry out a dialogue between Husserl and Hui-neng,which centers on the “essential intuition” and “insight to Buddha”.It compares them from three aspects and finally discusses how to return to the essential life through “seeing”.The first part mainly explains the content of Husserl’s “essential intuition” and Hui-neng’s “insight into Buddha”,and analyzes the meaning of “essential intuition”and the problems to be solved.By analyzing the connotation and conditions of “insight into Buddha”,we can know that the nature of self is Buddha. The second part mainly explores the similarities between “essential intuition” and “insight into Buddha” from the two aspects of “the purpose of seeing” and “the content of seeing”.The third part discusses the differences between “essential intuition” and “insight into Buddha”,and analyzes their different implementation methods for “how to see”,which are embodied in the pre-work of the separation of consciousness and object,as well as the specific implementation methods with or without time dimension. In the fourth part, through the comparative study of Husserl’s “essential intuition” and Hui-neng’s “insight into Buddha”,the author reflects on the procedural thinking mode in the interpersonal communication activities in modern life, and points out that the key point to solve the problem is to change the way of “seeing”,and finally return to the essential life.In conclusion, both Husserl and Hui-neng agreed with the falsity of the objective objects, that is,the “untruth”,but at the same time did not deny the existence of the objective objects. This contradiction is based on the fact that consciousness and mind have the characteristics of intention and obsession.Although they expressed their own thoughts in different languages, they showed the same way of thinking,to suspend or not cling to an object. Therefore,Husserl and Hui-neng demonstrated the way to return to essential life from different standpoints, and The former was achieved through the epistemological model of “how is knowledge possible”,while the latter was realized by the mind-nature theory of “how do people transcend”. |
