Emotion and behavior are important contents of children's social development and also significant indicators of children's physical and mental health.Early education, especially the children's physical and mental development, has received more and more attention from all walks of life.Since the 20 th century, there have been many studies on children's emotions and behaviors, but the results are not optimistic. The problems existing in children's emotions and behaviors are on the rise.Family,as the first classroom for individual growth, plays a vital role in the individual development.Individual development is influenced by many factors, among which the parenting style is the most direct and influential one.Chinese traditional culture has always held such educational beliefs as "spare the rod, spoil the child",and guided by this kind of beliefs,a large number of phenoms have been cultivated. Are these educational beliefs in strict discipline still effective in nowadays society? Previous studies have shown that there is a certain relationship between strict parental discipline and children's development.Following this train of thought, this study attempts to further explore the impact of parents' strict upbringing on emotional management ability and behavioral problems of children aged 4-6,hoping to provide effective suggestions for the correct parental upbringing. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between parents' strict discipline and 4 to 6 years old children's emotional management ability and behavioral problems. In the study a total of 635 children and their parents were investigated by using Parent-Child Conflict Resolution Scale,Preschool Children's Emotion Management Scale and Children's Behavior Scale. The results show that:(1)4 to 6years old children's behavioral problems are at the middle level, and the top three are social problems, attention problems and discipline violations;(2)boys' behavioral problems are observably more than girls';(3)girls' emotional management ability is significantly stronger than boys';the higher the father's educational level, the stronger the children's emotional perception ability is,and the higher the mother's educational level, the higher the children's emotional perception and control ability is;(4)mothersuse more severe discipline than fathers, and boys suffer more corporal punishment than girls;(5)the three dimensions of father's psychological attack, corporal punishment and mother's strict discipline can markedly and positively predict preschool children's behavioral problems;(6)4 to 6 years old children's emotional management ability plays a mediating role between parents' strict discipline and behavioral problems.Based on these research conclusions, the researcher suggests that great importance should be attached to parents' education and parents' educational concepts should be changed. To be specific, parents must stop strict discipline and create a warm family atmosphere;parents are supposed to set a good example to the preschool children in guiding their emotional and behavioral development;parents had better try their best to help the preschool children to curb the emergence of behavioral problems and improve their emotional management ability.
