"Zhi" is an important category in the history of Chinese ethical thought, which is closely related to ideal, ambition, aspirations, will, ideal personality and value trend. It has extremely important significance for personal growth, moral value pursuit and personality spirit construction. Many ideologists have interpreted and studied Zhi in different degrees and directions.Wang Chuanshan,an outstanding thinker at the turn of Ming and Qing Dynasties,is a master of Zhi theory. On the basis of critically inheriting and absorbing the achievements of previous Zhi theory,he creatively constructed a "inference and distinction" thought of “Zhi” by combining his own life experience with his in-depth observation of the social situation of "heaven and earth collapse" in Ming and Qing Dynasties, especially by tracing the origin and exploring the hidden sources of the value system of Chinese civilization. The ideological system of Zhi theory, which is new to him,has greatly promoted and developed Chinese philosophy of life and ethics. However, the value and significance of Chuanshan's theory of "Zhi" has not been well studied in the academic circles. Therefore,a comprehensive and systematic study of Chuanshan's theory of "Zhi" and a better exploration of Chuanshan's ethical spirit and human life ideal are undoubtedly of great theoretical and practical significance.Deeply revealing the inherent structure, unique charm and theoretical essence of Chuanshan's "Zhi" theory can highlight the profound connotation of "Zhi" as the main human heart being through the analysis of the composition of the categories of Qi,Yi,Jie and Gong. When we use phenomenological reductive method to analyze the original essence and value foundation of "Zhi" theory,we can find that it leads to the generation of individual moral personality and the spiritual construction of individual moral subjectivity.Chuanshan's theory of "Zhi" not only stops here, but eventually emerges in the way of "realism",which shows the flesh and blood of the of the individual and the full and complete human life.So far,the value of Chuanshan's whole ideological system of "Zhi" theory is clearly visible, that is,the return of individual self and the awakening of independent personality.Through the phenomenological analysis of Chuanshan's "Zhi" theory,we can draw the following conclusions: the real return of individual self and the real awakening of independent personality are the essential value of Chuanshan's "Zhi" theory, which is obviously different from the excessive suppression of individual by Neo-Confucianism in Song and Ming Dynasties. To some extent,Chuanshan's "Zhi" theory realizes the dialectical criticism of the spiritual value of Neo-Confucianism and promotes the true ethical spirit of Confucianism and Mencius. However,Chuanshan's "Zhi" theory has not completely crossed the barrier of Neo-Confucianism,so there are still some limitations in the freedom, morality and nationality of Zhi.However, with the background of Chuanshan's times,Chuanshan's advocacy of individual independent personality and respect for human dignity have become the strong voice of the times.
