Mythological imagery has a long history in poetry,but the history of taking mythological imagery as independent an object of study is not long.From the perspective of poetry,mythological images first appeared in the Book of Songs,followed by the Songs of Chu,the Fu of literature,Han Yuefu songs and Nineteen Ancient Poems.From Wei and Jin Dynasties,the variety and quantity of Mythological Images increased sharply.Because of their different official experiences and attitudes towards life,poets choose different or the same mythological images to write into their poems to express the same or different understandings and perceptions.There are many mythological images,poets and poems involved in the poetry of Wei and Jin Dynasties.Based on this,this paper is divided into three chapters besides the introduction and conclusion.The first chapter is about the classification of Mythological Images in Wei and Jin poetry.Because of their different historical and cultural backgrounds,mythological images are divided into four categories: primitive mythological images,historical mythological images,legendary images and immortal images.Each kind of mythological imagery,introduces its unique causes,and combines with the relevant poems or poems in the Wei and Jin Dynasties,lists and analyses the unique role of each kind of mythological imagery in poetry。Because of the inappropriateness,the power of primitive mythological imagery appears in the writings of the poets of Wei and Jin Dynasties,which is forgotten,weakened and integrated with new ideas.The historical mythological imagery highlights the role of "human".The legendary imagery embodies people’s yearning for happiness and a better life.The mythological imagery with color is a unique phenomenon in the poetry of Wei and Jin Dynasties;The second chapter is the reasons why mythological images appeared in Wei and Jin poems.From the perspective of mythological images,poets,poetry and social culture,it can be divided into three sections.The first section traces the origin and development of mythological images into poems,then points out the "grotesque" nature of mythological images.The first section traces back to the origin and development of mythological imagery in poetry,including the naturalness of mythological imagery in poetry of Wei and Jin Dynasties.It points out the "grotesque" of mythological imagery in the lightof literati’s controversy over the mythology of Chuci;The second section expounds the poets increasingly strong sense of worrying about life since the end of Han Dynasty,the lyric essence of poetry meets the poets’ need to talk.It urges poets to pay attention to the meaning of immortality contained in mythological images,and the essence of poetry lyricism,"poetry expresses aspirations",which meets the needs of poets to express themselves;The third Section discusses the relationship between Mythological Images and the development of witchcraft and Taoism,and the influence of Mythological Images on poets in Wei and Jin Dynasties under the influence of witchcraft and Taoism.The third Chapter is the characteristics of mythological imagery in Wei and Jin poetry.Through the rendering of the poets’ subjective will,the characteristics of mythological imagery are as follows: Firstly,it emerges in the form of mythological imagery groups,focusing on the poets’ attitudes and understandings of the legends of Xi He myth and E Huang、Nv Ying legendary;Secondly,the characteristics of evolution,which are the essence of mythological imagery,the style characteristics formed in the course of evolution and the role played by the poets’ subjective choices;Thirdly,it is theLyric characteristics,emotional expression can be divided into the feelings of benefiting the world and governing the country and the personality of a small family.The former is presented by poets through the eulogizing of Yao,Shun and Yu,while the latter is embodied by poets through Censhen,flounder and inseparable king bird.
