"Chuang tzu" shows a free and easy state, which is mainly conveyed in the form of fables. The "Historical records" says that the book of "Chuang tzu" is more than one hundred thousand words, which is mostly fables. So mythological fables are important to "Chuang tzu".Mythological imagery is the basic material of "Chuang tzu" and conveys Zhuangzi’s thoughts,we can analyze the characteristics of mythological imagery in "Chuang tzu",so as to analyze the philosophical thoughts and realm to be conveyed by Zhuangzi.Zhuangzi lived in the time of war and was distressed about such a society, but he could not change it.So he turned his attention to individual life and pursued spiritual freedom to save people’s life. This paper aims to explore Zhuangzi’s free thought by analyzing the mythological images in the inner parts of "Chuang tzu".This paper consists of an introduction and four chapters. The introduction is divided into four sections, mainly introducing the research origin, research status, research objects and methods, and research objectives of this paper.Various mythological fables are described in "Chuang tzu",and a large number of mythological images make Zhuangzi’s thoughts more mysterious. The study of these mythological images began with the introduction of western mythological theories in the early 20th century.Based on the previous studies on mythological images in western mythological thinking, this paper starts from the text of "Chuang tzu" and analyzes Zhuangzi’s view of freedom by means of knowing people and judging the world, induction and comparison. The second section mainly explains the conception of this paper’s topic selection, aiming to analyze the mythological images based on the text. Therefore,it innovates the previous research method based on western mythological thinking. The first chapter of the text mainly introduces the "small and big" argument in "Chuang tzu" by analyzing the image of "big things".Zhuangzi depicts the mythological images of "big things",affirms the great disparity between "small and big",and conveys Zhuangzi’s pursuit of the shackles of "big",that is,the pursuit of spiritual freedom. The second chapter is about the two kinds of contrasting characters including "god man" and "deformed man".Through the contrast and transformation bet ween the two images of beauty and ugliness,it is understood that there are ways to realize the shackles of "beauty",that is "Tao",in other words, there are ways to achieve spiritual freedom; The third chapter mainly explains Zhuangzi’s thought of"materialization",which is mainly realized through the transformation between the images of "people" and "things".From this "materialization" thought,Zhuangzi’s attitude on things and life and death can be reflected, that is,to eliminate the differences between all things and believe that the essence of life and death is the same. The fourth chapter mainly analyzes Zhuangzi’s free thought, based on the above analysis of Zhuangzi’s mythological image. What Zhuangzi pursues is spiritual freedom, and what his pursuit of freedom is based on reality, not absolute. But,there are ways in.Therefore,we need to achieve a "qi" attitude, the most fundamental is to reach the state "I forget myself".It also discusses the realistic significance of Zhuangzi’s free thought to our contemporary society.
