As a social phenomenon,gift exchange exists widely in human society.However,in different cultural mothers,the situation of gifts is different.At the same time,gifts exchange presents two characteristics:cultural behavior and economic behavior.Through the interpretation and analysis of gift etiquette and custom,it can not only reflect the diversity of rural culture in Tibet,but also show local social relations and social mutual assistance.This paper takes Vi Tsag administrative village in Bsang Chu County as a case study.Based on the reciprocity of gift customs,the spirit of gift,and the related theoretical background of gift giving,receiving and returning,it collects relevant materials and information through interviews and questionnaires,and analyses the cultural and economic behavior of Vi Tsag Village's gift customs.Based on the living style and economic structure of Vi Tsag village,we know that gift expenditure accounts for a large proportion of total expenditure.In addition,in the exchange of gifts between villages and monasteries,relatives,brothers,and local society,we find that gift custom has the functions of social security,social support,cultural identity and cultural belonging.In conclusion,this study finds that the social cohesion of Vi Tsag village is maintained,solidified and strengthened by gift exchange.The influence of social structure on gift etiquette and custom can not be ignored,including the reciprocal coexistence of monasteries and villages,the reciprocity between relatives and neighbours,and the traditional social structure are closely related to the sacred gift custom and the secular gift custom,while gift exchange is also maintained.Maintain and strengthen the social structure.
