Hou Kezhong,a poet of Yuan Dynasty, was involved in many fields, such as Sanqu,Zaju and so on.He also studied Yi Xue.As a blind person,he completed his studies by reading and memorizing from childhood. However, the academic research on Hou Kezhong mainly focuses on his Sanqu works, and there is no comprehensive and systematic analysis of more than 500 poems in his surviving collection of Genzhai Poetry. As for such a writer who has physical defects but keeps on writing and has plenty of works,in my opinion, that more attention should be paid to him.On the basis of collecting and sorting out the relevant literature, this paper combs the circulation and survival of the edition of Hou Kezhong's Genzhai Poetry Collection, and tries to restore the appearance of his poems comprehensively and systematically by means of close reading of the text and combining literature with history. His thoughts are mainly Confucianism and have the consciousness of historians,so the content of his poems is mostly composed of chanting classics. The creation of Hou Kezhong's chanting poems is deeply influenced by Zhu Xi's annotations under the background of meta-agent theory. In view of the disadvantages brought about by the prevalence of Buddhism in the Yuan Dynasty,Hou Kezhong's poetry also has a clear tendency to exclude Buddhism.Hou Kezhong, because of his special identity as a blind man, created unique scenery, chanting objects and painting poems, and also because of his experience of residing in the south of the China, wrote a lot of detention travel poems.Although Hou Kezhong had no official experience,he was the assistant of Shi Tianze,a famous general in the early Yuan Dynasty, and had a wide range of friends. He also had many recitations with famous composers at that time, such as Bai Pu,Xu Yan,Zhang Kongsun and Hu Zhiyu.Hou Kezhong also wrote a large number of poems expressing hermit thoughts in the atmosphere of the strong admiration to Tao Yuanming in the Yuan Dynasty.Hou Kezhong's direct Lyric technique is embodied in his poems of chanting history, criticizing current problems and describing reality. The poems of chanting objects, scenery and history all have the characteristics of profound philosophicalthinking and insight.Hou Kezhong created the "homophonic form" of "unprecedented in ancient times" and set a precedent for the division of the existing poems from the perspective of phonology.Hou Kezhong's landscape poems are elegant in language, fresh and detached, delicate in conception and natural in style, which embodies the common pursuit of nature in the poetry pursuit of literati in Yuan Dynasty. As one of the representative writers of the Yuan Dynasty,Hou Kezhong used the common image group in his traveling poems and Sanqu, and his inner feelings were in the same line.In addition to the creative environment provided by the Cultural Center and the tremendous support of the Shi family,Hou Kezhong's positive optimism of not abandoning himself blindly and his attitude of not abandoning his studies at an advanced age are the inexhaustible motives for his creation.Hou Kezhong's unique position in all fields of poetry, literature and music, which relies on his ears instead of eyes, should also occupy a place in the literary history of the Yuan Dynasty.
