This paper studies the literary creation of Zhang Henshui and Bao Tianxiao from the economic perspective,as well as the author's own survival mode.Exploring the relationship between popular literature and the market, readers, contribution fees, and press and publishing industry in the new socio-economic context.Taking Zhang and Bao as examples, studying the interaction between popular literature and economy in light of the special social and economic background of modern China. In modern China, the capitalist market has taken shape, and the phenomenon of royalty for manuscripts has exerted a great influence on writers' writing concepts. This paper explores the economic motivation of Zhang and Bao's writing from the perspective of egoism, and explores the relationship between the economic motivation of popular writing and literary writing,so as to provide a way of thinking for better grasping popular literature. The article pays attention to the social and economic context in modern times, which provides a market for popular writers to write.Bao and Zhang's works also show the idea of "civilized way",and influence the reading aesthetic ability of the public imperceptibly. At the same time, economic motivation and marketization are also hotbeds for the formation of poor quality popular works. The first part focuses on the economic development model of Zhang Henshui and Bao Tianxiao's creative era.Modern popular literature, represented by Bao and Zhang, has a clear production chain.Through newspapers, bookstores and video works, the works eventually enter the vision of readers/audiences.The second part introduces the remuneration and royalty system in China. In ancient China, there was also a "fee for writing",but the arbitrariness was strong. It did not arise from economic conditions and did not have the system stipulation. The writings of modern popular writers are closely related to the emergence of remuneration and royalty system. This paper explores the economic motivation and multiple identities of Bao and Zhang's writings, and compares their income with that of other professionals in the same period. The third part, based on the discussion of the first two chapters, explores the development direction of popular literature under the background of marketization.Literary works serving the market also have great works that have been circulated up to now. There are also possibilities of benign development between economic context and popular literature, but there are also irreconcilable contradictions, which put forward higher requirements for popular literature and writers.
