A Study On “Panzhou Garden” And Hong Kuo's Garden Poetry

During the Southern Song Dynasty,the prosperity of politics,economy and culture,and the unprecedented promotion of literati's status promoted the development of private gardens in Poyang.In particular,Hong Kuo's Panzhou Garden is the most representative.Hong Kuo(1117-1184),styled himself Jingbo,and called himself “Panzhou Old Man”,the eldest son of Hong Hao,a well-known patriot in the alternating period of the Northern and Southern Song Dynasty.Panzhou Garden is a country garden built by Hong Kuo after he resigned from an official post and returned to Poyang in his later life.After the completion of Panzhou Garden,Hong Kuo wrote the Panzhou Garden Records and created a large number of poems and essays on the theme of Panzhou scenery,singing the scenery of Panzhou at all seasons.At the same time,he recorded every bit of his garden life with poems,reflecting the reclusive mentality and entertainment interest of conditions of literati in the Southern Song Dynasty,which has unique cognitive significance.This paper is to study Hong Kuo's “Panzhou Garden” through collating and researching the relevant literature and drawing on the few research results of predecessors,discussing Hong Kuo's horticultural practice,gardening life and poetry creation centered on Panzhou Garden.The article is made up of three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.First of all,the introduction mainly explained the significance of Hong Kuo's Panzhou Garden and the study on the creation of landscape literary,reviewed and commented on the current academic research status of Hong Kuo and Panzhou Garden,pointed out the limitations of previous studies,and then put forward the research objectives and methods of this paper.The main part of the text focuses on Hong Kuo's “Panzhou Garden”,and explores the relationship between garden and literati's leisure collection and literary activities.Firstly,on the premise of combing Hong Kuo's life stories and combing with the development background of literati gardens in the Southern Song Dynasty,this paper investigates the construction characteristics and gardening ideas of “Panzhou Garden”.Secondly,it focuses on the analysis and discussion of Hong Kuo's leisure elegant collection and poetry creation centered on “Panzhou Garden” from the perspective of the living space and literary space function.Furthermore,it explores the two-way constructive relationship between “Panzhou Garden” and Hong Kuo's poetry creation.The concluding part makes a comprehensive summary and evaluation of Hong Kuo's "Panzhou Garden" and his poetry creation,affirming its literary history value and cultural significance.
