Contemporary exercise behavior theories believe that cognitive factors play a major role in exercise behavior decision-making,such as exercise attitude, intention, etc. However, cognitive factors cannot fully explain exercise behavior.Cognitive-based interventions tend to become a burden on people and affect their long-term effectiveness. The dual-process models divide the information processing into controlled processing and automatic processing. It holds that people make rational decisions through controlled processing and irrational decisions through automatic processing. It can be inferred that exercise behavior decision-making is not only influenced by cognitive factors, but also by irrational or affect factors, such as automatic affective evaluations.Automatic affective evaluations, which is an individual's immediate affect response to an event or stimulus,is the result of automatic affect processing.Automatic affective evaluations of exercise is the result of the affect response generated during the previous exercise. When a person thinks about exercise or encounters a stimulus that activates the concept of exercise producing a pleasant or unpleasant impulse. And it leads people to approach or away from exercise behaviors. Most of the existing studies used the method of supraliminal presentation priming stimulus to measure the automatic affective evaluations of exercise, but this cannot completely exclude the influence of consciousness component on the measurement results.Based on the above two experiments, this study takes college students as the research object, and divides the subjects into the exercise group and the non-exercise group through the physical activity rating scale.Supraliminal and subliminal stimuli were used to verify the existence of automatic affective evaluations of exercise and explore whether the automatic affective evaluation of exercise can predict the current exercise behavior. The study used the evaluative priming task, and priming stimulus included exercise priming words and control priming words, and target stimulus included positive target words and negative target words.Priming effect=(RTTAR-neg | PRI-Ex-RTTAR-neg|PRI-Con)-(RTTAR-pos|PRI-Ex-RTTAR-pos|PRI-Con).The priming effect reflects that compared with negative target words, exercise prime words promote positive target words. The larger the priming effect is,the stronger the promoting effect is.In experiment 1,there were 31 people in the non-exercise group and the exercise group, with an average age of 22.81±2.33 years. It showed the results that the priming effect of the two groups was significantly different?t?60?=2.53,p<0.05?and the priming effect of the exercise group?2.52±54.34?is greater than that of the non-exercise group?-39.52±74.67?.The exercise group had a promoting effect on the positive target words relative to the negative target words under the condition of exercise priming, while the non-exercise group had a promoting effect on the negative target words relative to the positive target words under the condition of exercise priming; There was a significant positive correlation between the amount of priming effect and the frequency of exercise?r=0.26,p<0.05?and the total amount of exercise?r=0.30,p<0.05?;The results of regression analysis showed that priming effect could significantly predict the exercise frequency?R2=0.06?and total exercise amount?R2=0.09?and it could explain the variability of 6%of exercise frequency and 9%of total exercise amount. In experiment 2,there were 32 subjects in the exercise group and 28 subjects in the non-exercise group, with an average age of 21.65±2.21 years. It showed the results that the priming effect of the two groups was a significant margin of difference?t?58?=2.02,0.05<p<0.1?and the priming effect of the exercise group?31.72±64.06?was greater than that of the non-exercise group?-3.00±69.37?.The exercise group had a promoting effect on the positive target words relative to the negative target words under the condition of exercise priming, while the non-exercise group had a promoting effect on the negative target words relative to the positive target words under the condition of exercise priming; There was a significant positive correlation between the amount of priming effect and the total amount of exercise?r=0.30,p<0.05?.The results of regression analysis showed that the amount of priming effect could significantly predict the exercise amount?R2=0.09?and it could explain the variation of 9%of the total amount of exercise. The two experimental results in this study prove the existence of automatic affective evaluations of exercise, and the automatic affective evaluations of exercise can predict the current exercise behavior. This indicates that exercise behavior is not only a deliberate cognitive outcome, but also may be influenced by unconscious and automated affective processes, which provides a basis for future research on the intervention of exercise behavior.
