Research On The Monarch-subject Drama In Zaju Of The Yuan Dynasty

The Monarch-Subject drama is a kind of Yuan Zaju,which introduces and elaborates that how monarch and his ministers get along with each other,and it is a very important category of Yuan Zaju,but has not been unable to get enough attention from the academic circle.The key reason has two aspects.One hand,the concept of the drama is vague,which contributes that related Zaju works can not be accurately combed.While on the other hand,most of the Monarch-Subject dramas remained in Zaju are just saved in the form of cunmu instead of cunben,so there is a lack of text information for it.The author defined the scope of the drama on the basis of previous studies and combed twenty-nine kinds of Monarch-Subject dramas,which including seven kinds of cunben and twenty-two kinds of cunmu,after consulting the Yuan Kan Zaju San Shi Zhong,the Gu Dian Xi Qu Cunmu Hui Kao and other literature.Meanwhile the author took it as an object and conducted a research.The prosperity of the Monarch-Subject drama is an inevitable outcome of the development of the era instead of an historical accident.In Yuan Dynasty Mongolians went into and took over Central Plain,the rulers implemented ethnic hierarchical system and preferred craftsmen rather than Confucians.The traditional literati ever positioned on top of the four kinds of people also lost stepping-stone,fell into the bottom of society and ended up the main force of creation of Yuan Zaju.The dissertation is divided into three chapters,the summary of the Monarch-Subject drama in Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty,the Monarch-Subject drama in Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty and the society of Yuan Dynasty,and the case study on the Monarch-Subject drama in Zaju of the Yuan Dynasty.The first chapter makes a macroscopical investigation into the Monarch-Subject drama,which including the definition and carding of the Monarch-Subject drama,the classification study on it and the social and political value of it.The second chapter delves into the relationship between the Monarch-Subject drama and the society of Yuan Dynasty,which including the reason why the Monarch-Subject drama flourished in Yuan Dynasty and the Monarch-Subject drama and the Confucianism in Yuan Dynasty.
