The concept of the Anthropocene proposed by Paul Crutzen in 2000 has become a hot topic in the disciplines of humanities and social sciences, and it has aroused the extensive attention of literary researchers to the climate change literature.Kim Stanley Robinson's climate fiction “the Capital Trilogy”(Forty Signs of Rain,Fifty Degrees Below and Sixty Days and Counting)is selected as the research text of this thesis.Centered on the climate change in the narration, the thesis delves into the crisis writing from different perspectives, conducting an in-depth exploration into the modern crisis.Specifically, the natural crisis, the social crisis and the spiritual crisis in the Capital Trilogy are investigated. In the first place, the thesis is set to explore the natural crisis that resulted from the imbalance of the natural order, and offers an attentive look at the doomsday picture caused by the abrupt climate change in the trilogy. In the discourse of the Anthropocene, the natural order owns irreplaceable importance for the protection of the earth, and the imbalance of it has become the essential reason for the collision between human beings and nature, which has triggered the outbreak of the natural crisis. Then the thesis sheds light on the social crisis. The inevitable risk in contemporary society and the invisible strife on ecological interests are intensively studied. On the one hand,America is taken as an example to probe into the features of a typical risk society in modern times, and to talk about the value selection of the responsibility subject. On the other hand, the second chapter also analyzes the cause and effect of the climatic“Tragedy of the Commons” based on the trade “game” on carbon emissions among the countries around the world.Under the oppression of risks and interests, the social crisis has been intensified. In the last session, the thesis gives priority to human beings in the spiritual crisis, focusing on the evolution of mankind's identity from the alienated ones to the redeemers. In the Capital Trilogy, human beings were suffering from the natural andsocial crises, deeply trapped in the spiritual crisis, but the author pointed out a way of redemption for them, which defined as building up a community of the common destiny between human and nature, between human and human. All in all,it is plausible to say that climate change in the Capital Trilogy is multi-dimensional,not only naturally, but also socially, and more importantly culturally. The study on the crisis writing of it may help deepen people's understanding of the alarming function of climate fiction, suggest new pathways to cope with the modern crisis, and think about the final fate of human beings.
