This thesis takes the occupational adaptability of graduates in Business English Studies(BES here in under)from SEIB,GDUFS as research object and discusses occupational adaptability related issues of BES graduates from GDUFS by means of theories from Human Resource Management discipline.Issues researched include BES graduates' occupational adaptability status quo, occupational inadaptation situation and suggestions on improving occupational adaptability of BES postgraduates. This thesis aims to reconsider the curriculum and program design of BES program based on the status quo of BES graduates' occupational adaptability. In order to truly reflect the occupational adaptability of BES graduates, the author conducts interviews with BES graduates and collects items measuring BES graduates' occupational adaptability through distributing open questionnaire to them and collecting other materials such as audio, notes and diaries from them.Selected items, after categorizing and summarizing, consist of the scale measuring BES graduates' occupational adaptability. After several times of modification, the measuring scale is finalized and distributed formally. Thus, statistics collected, after being operated and analyzed, draw the following conclusions: 1)BES graduates' occupational adaptability can be measured from five dimensions, namely, occupational choice adaptability, occupational interpersonal adaptability, occupational knowledge and learning adaptability, occupational psychological adaptability and occupational environmental adaptability.2)BES graduates' occupational adaptability reaches a relatively upper middle level.(M=3.63)3)BES graduates perform best on occupational environmental adaptability and worst on professional knowledge and learning adaptability.4)BES graduates' occupational adaptability has it's demographic characteristics.5)BES graduates of different categories perform significantly differently on occupational adaptability.6)Occupational inadaptation of BES graduates can be categorized into three main perspectives: inadaptation related with BES graduates' individual competitiveness, organizational incentive support and educational cultivation from BES program. It has been decades since the first BES program was carried out in colleges and universities in China. However, there are few discussions on how to cultivate higher level Business English talents. This research collects the first hand material related to BES graduates' occupational adaptability, and based on which,it discusses “What kind of BES talents should be cultivated?” and “How should we cultivate them?” in the new historical environment. In order to better solve these questions, the author also carries out an auxiliary investigation on the employment status of the third-year BES postgraduates in GDUFS,which aims to reflect obstacles and difficulties in their job-hunting process, reasons behind obstacles and difficulties and feasible suggestions to future BES postgraduates on avoiding such obstacles and difficulties.Though this research mainly takes BES graduates from GDUFS as research objects,it is expected that this research can be of certain reference value to BES programs in other colleges and universities.
