Since the introduction of Orff's teaching method in the second half of the 20 th century,it has been widely used in various fields related to music education.The core notion of Orff's teaching method,"Elemental Music",contains rich and diverse connotations.The acceptance of Orff's "Elemental Music" notion in mainland China can be divided into two stages.In the spontaneous stage from 1980 to 1995,more emphasis on teaching practice,relatively neglect the notion of Orff's education,some scattered understanding of the notion of "Elemental Music",with the translation and understanding of "Elemental Music" oriented,obviously this formal interpretation has a certain one-sidedness.In the conscious stage from 1995 to the present,many scholars began to pay attention to the notion of Orff's "Elemental Music",and more widely recognized the translation of "Original Music" proposed by Hailin Xiu,and generalized "Elemental Music" by the "Music Ontology" of Chinese traditional music aesthetics.Such translation and understanding bring a new perspective to the interpretation of Orff's "Elemental Music" notion,but there still has a tendency to solidify and one-sidedness.The translation of“Elemental Music”in Taiwan in China is handled differently in different contexts.The “Basic Music” is used in the specific teaching method,and the “Original Nature” is used in the study of ideas.There is a certain one-sidedness in understanding,but there is the way of understanding and using to learn from.By analyzing the different acceptance states of the mainland and Taiwan,it can be concluded that the translation of Orff's "Elemental Music" notion should adopt a relatively open attitude.Without an over-solidified interpretation,it can objectively restore its rich connotation.If we re-examine the notion of "Elemental Music" from such an open perspective,we can see that it is the product of Orff who was influenced on German humanism and European naturalistic philosophy;it reflects Orff's opposition to the technical training of human rigidity,trying to connect the rhythm of music and the rhythm of human life through the body's own rhythm and momentum,so that people can return to a natural spontaneous state of education;the purpose is to improve individual personality and humanity,not to limit the freedevelopment of man.The textbook of Orff's music teaching method and the notion of "Elemental Music" constitute a complete education system,which has both concrete methods and methodological thinking to guide the operation.Only giving Orff's notion of "Elemental Music" with independence and integrity,we can better understand and accept the Orff music teaching method and effectively promote the development of music education in our country.
