Li Yong is an extraordinary calligrapher since the Tang Dynasty.He has made great achievements onengraving the Xingshu(a genre of calligraphy)on the tablet.After Tang Taizongstepped into the water of engraving Xingshu,Li Yong was keenly aware that directly engrave the calligraphy of Two Wangs can not express the unique charm of the tablet calligraphy.Therefore,after exploration,he combined the brushstrokes,knots and structure of Northern tablet and the style of Two Wangswhich proved to be a suitable way.Dong Qichang(Ming Dynasty)commented: "The calligraphy of Wang is like a dragon,whileLi Yong's is like an elephant." It istruely a high-level summary and recognition of Li Yong.Mr.Qi Gong said: "The beginning of engrave can be dated back to JinDynasty.Li Jing and Huai Ren can not compete with Li Yong who it was said to be the peak of the peak." Li Yong's achievements are not only derived from his cultivation and calligraphy skills,but also from his courage and extraordinary talents.He warned that later scholars can't just immersed blindly in the trend.And his idea Customer,copygto die is not only a warning to future generations,but also a warning to himself.In this essay,we study and compare his works between different periods,or of the same period,and discovertotal distinctions.While contemporarycalligraphers like Zhang Zongshen,Su Lingzhi have not broken through the barriers of him which is bored.This essay is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the connection between Li Yong and his calligraphy as literary and officer,and introduces Li Yang's profound family studies and the aesthetic orientation of calligraphy in the early Tang Dynasty.The second chapter mainly analyzes the causes of Li Shu's style of writing.And the third chapter analyzes and compares his works vertically.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the influence of Li Yu's calligraphy on later generations and the value of his workto the contemporary.
