In recent years,English teaching in vocational colleges is centered on the principle of "Practical Skills Training Ranks First" to improve the students' pragmatic competence in their oral English communication.However,in the classroom,the oral English teaching is affected by the students' negative attitudes and weak English foundation,insufficient English class hours,and few opportunities provided to practice oral English in classes and out of classes.All have impact on the ineffectiveness of oral English teaching,which has been the key and difficult point in vocational college English teaching.Cooperative Learning takes groups as the basic organizational form and makes use of the interaction between dynamic factors in teaching to promote students' learning.In this thesis,Cooperative Learning is applied to oral English teaching at Guizhou College of Electronic Science and Technology,so as to achieve the English teaching goal,improving students' academic performance and promoting the development of their cooperative ability.The research questions in this thesis are as follows:1.How can Cooperative Learning reduce students' English learning anxiety to exert positive effects on their learning attitudes and cooperative skills?2.How can Cooperative Learning help vocational college students become more proficient in oral English?The subjects of this research are 104 freshmen from two Logistics Management classes in Grade 2018 at Guizhou College of Electronic Science and Technology.Class One is the controlled class and Class Two is the experimental class.The number of students,the proportion of boys and girls in the two classes are similar,and the students' English learning interests,attitudes and achievements are relatively similar.The experiment period was from October 2018 to January 2019,a total of 13 weeks.The author collected and analyzed the data through students' oral English tests,questionnaire surveys and classroom observation.It is found that Cooperative Learning can provide more opportunities for vocational college students to speak English,reduce students' anxiety about speaking English,stimulate students' learning interests and positive attitudes,and help them improve their oral English proficiency.At the same time,Cooperative Learning can also improve the oral English learning atmosphere in class to improve students' cooperative ability.
