Director's Statement For The Short Film Gift

With the development of modern society,marriage concept and Sexual attitude have undergone great changes.The extramarital affairs not only become the biggest killer of contemporary marriage,but also become an after dinner talk and onto TV show.Gift is a short story about extramarital affairs which describes emotional conflicts among daughter-in-law,two home wreckers,mother-in-law and son,involving the concept of karma in Buddhism.With an unconventional narrative approach,this short film tells the whole story in reverse.In order to add suspensive effect,it has been divided into several parts,from the moment the story end flashback to the early sense.This paper would further elaborate the creative topic selection,theme and characters setting for the film directly from the perspective of the director,as well as narrative approach,scene design,sound design and detailed shooting process and etc.
