Corporate sustainability report(CSR,also named Corporate Social Responsibility Report)is one of corporate publicity materials that reports corporate performance in economy,environment and society.The report is designed to disclose the actions to stakeholders that companies take to improve the performance and to inform of the results of these actions and future improvement.Releasing the performance in economy,environment and society,enterprises satisfy the cognition demand of customers and inspire their inclination,then the market share.Chinese enterprises have defects in content and format of sustainability report.Targeting at a higher writing level,the translation of sustainability report will be in demand,with which Chinese enterprises can be informed of operating information of other companies and international standards of corporate sustainability report.This source text is excerpted from Ford 2016/17 Corporate Sustainability Report released by Ford in its official website,which is regarded as a publicity material with the object of advertising the social responsibility Ford took and the future vision the company has to the readers of the report.This translation report chooses Text Typology as a theoretical guidance and applies the translation theory after analyzing the lexical syntactic and discourse features.Following Text Typology,the translator makes a text analysis before translating to find the main language function of this kind of publicity material and summarize the difficulties in the process of translating.And the translator,by analyzing the typical translation,explores some translation methods and techniques that are applicable in translating sustainability report.With the guidance of Text Typology,the translator illustrates the difficulties she met when translating,such as terms,long sentences,titles and discourse styles.Besides,the translator proposes the corresponding solutions to these difficulties with the guidance of Text Typology and Communicative translation.In summary,the translator expects to explore the applicable translation methods as to the E-C translation of Corporate Sustainability Report with the guidance of Peter Newmark's Text Typology,to provide a normative reference for the translation of sustainability report,so as to shed some light on a new perspective for the translation practice and study in the future.
