A Practice Report On C-E Translation Of Website Of Shede Spirits

With the exchange of global culture,the translation activity not only plays a significant role in academic exchanges,but also in corporate strategy.Nowadays,many Chinese companies have developed English websites,which are beneficial to raise their image and spread Chinese culture.At present,a lot of studies and analyses to the translation of publicity text exist.According to the existing research literature and Peter Newmark‘s text typology,the publicity text has the features of informative text and vocative text,but is dominated by the latter.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark‘s communicative translation theory,this paper takes the English translation of publicity material in Shede Spirits to summarize the techniques used in the translation.Through analyzing the text characteristics that oriented to vocative text,the translator hopes the translation text can achieve communicative purpose.The source text involves more words and sentences with Chinese characteristics,including culture-loaded words,four-character words,non-subject sentences,and run-on sentences.When translating culture-loaded words,the way of annotation is applied to transmit cultural information to the target language readers.The techniques of structural transformation and simplification are used in translating four-character words.When translating non-subject sentences,the techniques of supplementing subject and passive voice translation are used.On the premise of accurately conveying the original meaning,techniques of division and restructuring are applied to run-on sentences to ensure coherence and fluency.After this task,the translator hopes to further master the translation techniques and continue to combine the theory and practice in the future's translation.
