Listening is an important part of English language skills. However,in the actual educational environment, the use of traditional classroom teaching methods for English listening learning not only has a small range of learning materials, boring learning patterns, unsatisfactory learning results, but also leads to students' poor learning interests. Therefore,it is extremely urgent to combine the emerging learning mode of mobile-assisted language learning with English listening learning to improve students' English listening learning.Based on such background, this study is to explore the application effect of mobile-assisted language learning platform in junior high school students' English listening learning.Firstly, this study introduces and sorts out the status of "Mobile-Assisted Language Learning," "Language Learning Strategies," "English Listening" and the current situation of research on mobile-assisted language learning at home and abroad through literature. Then,a quasi-experimental study was carried out on the students of the second grade of X Middle School in Jingdezhen City,Jiangxi Province, and questionnaires were distributed for investigation. Before the beginning of the quasi-experiment,the listening test part of the English sample paper of jiangxi provincial high school entrance examination in 2017 was used to conduct the pre-test for the whole second grade. Two classes with similar levels were selected to participate in the study,so as to ensure that the overall level of English listening of the two classes was the same. Then, one class was randomly determined as a control class, and the other class was used as an experimental class. In the quasi-experimental study, single pretest and post-test experimental modes and equal group pretest and post-test experimental modes were used.A single groupexperiment was conducted for the students in the experimental class, and an equal group experiment was conducted for both the experimental class and the control class. The students in the experimental class used the mobile-assisted language learning platform Shanbay APP selected in this study for listening learning, while the students in the control class used the traditional classroom method for listening learning. At the end of the quasi-experiment,students in the two classes were given a post-test of English listening achievement. The listening test part of the English sample paper of jiangxi provincial high school entrance examination in 2018 was used to conduct the post-test for the experimental class and the control. Finally, students in the experimental class were given a questionnaire about the application effect of the Shanbay APP to have a deeper understanding of it.The research data shows that after using the Shanbay APP,the students in the experimental class exhibit a satisfactory improvement in English listening achievement. Not only were the average listening test scores of the experimental class significantly better than those of the control class, but also the degree of aggregation of the listening test scores of the experimental class was better than that of the control class. At the end of this study, some reasonable suggestions are put forward from the aspect of students, teachers and the school followed by a reflection of the limitation of this study,so as to improve the follow-up research and enable mobile-assisted language learning platform to effectively assist students in English listening learning.
