This report, based on the C-E subtitle translation of the documentary I'm coming to Xinjiang, solves the difficulties encountered in the translation process under the guidance of Susan Bassnett's culture translation perspective.Different linguistic features between Chinese and English cause a challenge to the C-E translation. In the audiovisual translation practice, there are many culture specific items(CSIs)in the source text, including material CSIs,social CSIs and linguistic CSIs which form great challenges to translate them.In addition, the space and time limitations of subtitles make these two problems trickier. From the perspective of Susan Bassnett's cultural translation, the paper puts forward translation techniques such as deletion, reductive paraphrasing, literal translation, substitution and paraphrase to produce a target text that can satisfy the needs of the target audience.
