Badiou is undoubtedly one of the most important French philosophers in the history of philosophy.His "event philosophy" based on mathematical ontology has had an important influence in the philosophical world.As domestic academic circles pay more and more attention to Badiou,the study of his philosophy has become more and more profound.However,at present,the domestic academic circles' research on Badiou mainly focuses on positive theoretical explanations,and there are few critical studies on Badiou.The French philosopher Fran?ois Laruelle became famous in the philosophical world for his "non-philosophy".He gave a deep critique of Badiou's philosophy through his non-philosophy.Laruelle's critique of Badiou is mainly shown in the book Anti-Badiou:The Introduction of Maoism in Philosophy.In this book,Laruelle not only criticized Badiou's mathematical ontology,but also criticized Badiou's event theory,truth theory and subject theory.The study of Laruelle's criticism of Badiou is not only conducive to an objective view of Badiou's philosophy,but also to the understanding of non-philosophy of Laruelle,who is not well known in the domestic academic circles.This paper mainly discusses Laruelle's critique of Badiou from the following four chapters:The first chapter mainly discusses the background of Laruelle's criticism of Badiou,including the academic influence of Badiou's philosophy,the theoretical origin of Laruelle's non-philosophy and the main concern of Laruelle's criticism of Badiou.In the face of the prevalence of relativism,the low tide of revolutionary activities,and the disappearance of revolutionary subjects,Badiou proposed the "event philosophy" about the ternary structure of truth,events and subject.Badiou confronted the post-modernist relativism by constructing operational truths;reconstructing the communist beliefs by constructing accidental events;and finding the possibility of revolution under capitalist rule by reshaping the revolutionary subject.Laruelle's "non-philosophy" has beeninfluenced by many philosophical thoughts,including Althusser's symptomatic reading of Marx's thought,Heidegger's and Derrida's deconstruction of metaphysics,and Gnosticism's heretical interpretation of the world.The great differences in theoretical democracy,deconstruction,and human liberation led directly to Laruelle's criticism of Badiou.The second chapter mainly discusses Laruelle's critique of Badiou from the perspective of philosophy.Non-philosophy points out that philosophers' new philosophical thinking is always constrained by a structure that is formed by the division of immanence and transcendence,which leads to the arbitrariness and obscuration of Real.If you want to understand the reality,you must go outside the philosophy and enter the non-philosophical field.Non-philosophy is not philosophy,nor anti-philosophy,but "first science".Badiou puts forward the mathematical ontology in order to argue against end of philosophy and Heidegger's poetic ontology.He believes that mathematical ontology is the only way to rebuild universalism and mathematics is the sole discourse of being.Based on the non-philosophical position,Laruelle criticized Badiou's mathematical ontology.Laruelle think that nature of Badiou's philosophy is the authoritarian under the mathematical objectivity.Badiou's project of the re-education of philosophy through mathematics is a kind of purification of terror,which not only purifies the content of philosophy and materiality of the world,but also dismembers the integrity of philosophy.The third chapter mainly discusses Laruelle's critique of Badiou's event theory,truth theory and subject theory.Laruelle criticizes the contingency and voluntarism of Badiou's event theory,pointing out that the opinion of the social revolution through accidental events is only an illusion;Laruelle criticizes the arbitrariness and unreality of Badiou's theory of truth.He believes that Badiou demonstrates the truth of his philosophy through mathematics in order to give his philosophy a privileged position.Badiou's materialism is not true materialism,but a kind of "formal materialism";Laruelle's criticism of the subject of Badiou's subject theory is a passive subject that is passively generated by events.Criticizing Badiou forces the subject to fall into an unfortunate situation with only a decentralized or temporary identity.However,in Laruelle's view,this passive subject and decentralized subject are essentially only a puppet subject subjectively constructed by mathematics-philosophers.The fourth chapter mainly reviews Laruelle's criticism of Badiou.In the process of criticizing Badiou,Laruelle has put forward some important philosophical views andmade certain contributions to the development of philosophical career.Laruelle's critique of Badiou deepens the understanding of the relationship between philosophy and reality,creatively explains Marxism through non-philosophy and promotes philosophical thinking to be more scientific and democratic.For Laruelle's critique of Badiou,we need to stand in the position of Marxism to analyze and criticize.From the standpoint of Marxism,Laruelle's critique of Badiou denied the knowable of reality,neglected the class nature of man and generalized the falseness of ideology.Laruelle's critique of Badiou tells us that we emphasize the immanence of Real,but we should not think that we don't have the ability to know the world;we encourage the diversity of ideas,but we must never give up the leadership of ideology;We value the inevitability of history,but we cannot deny the contingency in the development process.
