With the continuous progress of the new curriculum reform,contemporary education puts emphasis on the improvement of the students' comprehensive quality,not only the ability to cope with exams,but to cultivate their multiple abilities.English homework is a significant part of the teaching process,the extension and supplement of classroom teaching,the main form of students' independent learning,and the key link to connecting classroom teaching and extracurricular learning.It can help students to strengthen the understanding of the learned content,and is one of the effective feedback forms of teaching effects and learning effects.Therefore,it is of great necessity to enhance the research on the English homework in the primary school of China.The study takes grade 5,grade 6 students and two English teachers in QQ primary school as the research objects,adopting the literature research,questionnaire surveys and interviews to explore the following questions:(1)What is the present situation of English homework for senior-grade students in QQ Primary School in Kunming? What are the problems?(2)How can teachers solve the existing problems and put forward some scientific and effective solutions to optimize English homework for senior-grade students in QQ Primary School in Kunming? As research results show,the amount of English homework is acceptable on the whole and there are still some problems: the students' attitude to English homework is the biggest obstacle to the English homework design;the content and types of English homework are unitary,lacking creativity,cooperation and practicality;the difficulty level of English homework is improper,lacking diversity;the subject of homework evaluation and design is single,and the evaluation and feedback are not comprehensive;parents are not involved in the process of English homework.In view of the above problems,the author puts forward the solutions to the relevant problems: it is necessary to improve the teachers' awareness of homework design to reflect its objectives,enrich the forms and contents of English homework to embody its fun,design optional English homework to reflect its openness,connect English homework with real life to reflect its practicality,and distinguish the difficulty level of English homework to reflect its hierarchy.In conclusion,this study hopes that English homework for senior grade students in the primary school can not only enrich students' knowledge,but also facilitate their independent learning and creative learning,so as to promote their sustainable development.
