A Report On C-E Translation Of Wuzhong Investment Guide

Wuzhong Investment Guide introduces in about 10,000 characters the advantages and policies of local investment in five aspects: overview of Wuzhong,key investment areas,receiving platforms,preferential policies and investment costs.Based on the Chinese-English translation of Wuzhong Investment Guide,this practice report employs a combination of Reiss' s Text Typology theory(Reiss,2004:25)and the text features of Wuzhong Investment Guide,i.e.content diversity,linguistic conciseness,formality and objectivity and diction professionalism,as its theoretic framework so as to analyze the text type of this guide as informative text,which is content-focused.Under the guidance of text typology and the translation principles of investment attraction texts,the translator puts forward corresponding solutions to the difficulties encountered,such as high requirements for accuracy at word and phrase levels,indistinct logic and structure,and redundant information,and then applies case analysis to explain in detail how to make the translation accurate,explicit and concise.This report consists of four chapters: Chapter one introduces the background and features of the translation task;Chapter two presents the whole translation process,which are pre-translation preparation,translation practice and post-translation proofreading;in Chapter three,based on Reiss' s text typology theory and principles of translating investment attraction texts,the translator proposes the following solutions to the difficulties: 1.strategies and methods to accuracy: analysis of word meaning and collocation,consulting parallel texts,etc.;2.strategies and methods to explicitation: restructuring,adding subject and background information,etc.;3.strategies and methods to conciseness: omission,combination,etc.;Chapter four explains the problems to be solved and the implication gained from the translation practice.
