This C-E translation report is based on selected excerpts from A Comparative Study on Zhuang and Thai Nationalities' Traditional Culture. The whole series of the monograph were co-authored by scholars from Guangxi Institute of Ethnic Culture and Silpakorn University. The monograph first introduces the traditional culture of Zhuang and Thai Nationalities from 15 aspects, which cover geographical environment, archaeological cultures, languages, production habits and then conducts a comparative research between the two nationalities in each part mentioned above. This C-E report mainly aims at analyzing the typical cases in my translation practice under the guidance of Relevance Theory and the Translative Methodology of Ethnic Classics.A large number of cases suggest that the translator, under the guidance of Relevance Theory, can find the best relevance through the connection between original language, context and translation version. Moreover, the Translative Methodology of Ethnic Classics is a great help for the translator to identify the equivalent translation of relevant expressions by studying the ethnic cultural knowledge. In this paper,a few strategies, such as literal translation, free translation, transliteration, etc.are flexibly applied to solve the difficult problems in the translation of words, sentences and texts encountered in my practice. The purpose of the report is to help the target language readers to understand the original text to the greatest extent, and it can also provide some reference for the translators who translate the classics in the future.
