Since the promulgation of the “National English Curriculum Standards at the Stage of Senior High(2017 Edition)”,the discussion of key competences has become a hot spot.However,there are still many problems in the implementation of documents to the practice of English language teaching.In fact,teachers have not really put key competences in practice.Therefore,the writer hopes to take the guideline of the new round of English curriculum reform as the guiding ideology,and to reflect the implementation of the current key competences in the classroom through the observation of English lessons and teachers' response.Specifically,this thesis attempts to research: 1)the status quo of key competences in high school English reading teaching;2)to find out the problems in the implementation of key competences through the classroom observation and questionnaire survey;3)to analyze the reasons for the formation of the problems.The implementation of key competences plays an important role in senior high English reading teaching.Under the circumstance of key competences,teachers cultivate students' interest in learning,stimulating their thinking ability,cultivating the consciousness of independent learning,constantly infiltrating English culture and fostering their pragmatic awareness.Heterogeneous class is an effective way to improve the quality of teaching.Teachers can learn from comparison a nd learn from each other to grow via reflection.This study selects three reading lessons in heterogeneous mode as a case study in order to reduce the variables of the study and improve the accuracy of the research results.In addition,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 100 lecturers to know about their understanding of key competences and classroom penetration.According to the case study and questionnaire of heterogeneous class analysis,the research finds that teachers did not put theoretical knowledge into teaching well,and the cultivation of key competences is not balanced.Among them,the cultivation of learning ability and thinking quality are not optimistic.The research further discusses some factors that affect the key competences training of English subjects,including the single curriculum,which cannot meet the individualized development of students.The content of the textbooks failed to keep pace with the times,that is to say,the content of the textbooks should be designed according to the key competences.Furthermore,the teacher beliefs on teachers,teaching method,teaching design,teaching evaluation,and teaching reflection need to be improved.Based on the research results and analysis,this thesis finally puts forward relevant suggestions for the teachers on how to cultivate senior high students' the key competences in English subject more effectively.
