Shu xu zhi nan is a privately compiled class book written at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, its author is Ren Guang.Since its publication,it may be due to the destruction of war,so that the book was limited in the Song and Yuan dynasties, but the book was widely spreaded in the Ming and Qing dynasties, there were a number of blockprinted editions and copies.Through an in-depth analysis of the compilation style of Shu xu zhi nan,it is found that the compilation of Shu xu zhi nan is unique in the Northern Song Dynasty and which is also a previous book. The compilation of this book was to meet the needs of writing letters in the end of the Northern Song Dynasty,it could provide help in the words, allusions, antithesis and other aspects of the writing of the book. There is a connection between Shu xu zhi nan and Qi zha qing qian in Song and Yuan Dynasty daily social intercourse books, but they also have great differences in compiling style, collecting contents, applicable objects and so on.Therefore, they can't be equated. In addition, this book also contains a lot of substituted nouns, which can meet the Song people's substituted noun needs in poetry writing.Shu xu zhi nan had an influence on the compilation of two books,Xiu ci zhi nan and Guang xiu ci zhi nan, which appeared in the Ming Dynasty. The purpose and function of these three books were basically the same. What's more, through the collation and proofreading of Shu xu zhi nan,it is found that it can not only collate the works of Tang Dynasty, but also include the contents of Jin yao and Shu ji which are lost. Therefore, this book also has the value of compilation and collation.
