When interpreters are at work, the clients and audience often take upon themselves to evaluate the quality of the interpretation. The audience may not have what it takes to truly assess the quality of the interpretation due to their limited knowledge of the source or target language.Nonetheless, they see no reason why they are not qualified to do so.For those who do not have a perfect command of the source or target language, the first thing they notice when listening to an interpreter at work is the fluency of the interpretation,as it is the most direct impression they get from an interpreter. Therefore, for top interpreters,it is essential to ensure their fluency. That being said, interpreters often fail to do so due to numerous factors beyond their control, for example, the accent of the speaker, the speed of the speech, abstract concepts in the speech, scripted speech, and unexpected issues on site. The author of this paper worked as the consecutive interpreter for the mock conference of the Press Conference of the fourth World Internet Conference in Wuzhen. When the author listened back to and analyzed the recordings of the interpretation, examples of disfluency abound. The author therefore attempts to come up with effective ways to improve the fluency of interpreters when interpreting formal and dense speeches with accent through the analysis of the original speech of the conference and its interpreted version.
