Practice Report On Translating Operation And Maintenance Guidance Manual Of Sea Water Desalination Project For Java7

Driven by the Belt and Road Initiative,domestic enterprises respond to the national call to go out in search of new profit growth points.Many Chinese enterprises set up international branches to open up foreign markets,so a large number of project texts need to be translated.As a kind of text of the project,the operation and maintenance guidance manual is used to clarify the responsibilities of operation and maintenance technicians,standardize the work behaviors of operation and maintenance personnel,and guarantee the service quality of operation and maintenance.Therefore,the translation and research of operation and maintenance guidance manual plays an important role in promoting the smooth development of international engineering projects,which has attracted more and more translators' attention.In August 2019,the author participated in the translation team of Java-7 coal fired power plant project,mainly responsible for the relevant translation work of the seawater desalination project for Java-7 coal fired power plant project.The selected text of the translation practice report is the operation and maintenance guidance manual of the seawater desalination project.The selected text consists of six parts,including overview,equipment introduction,technical description,safety instructions,operation,maintenance and management,with a total of about 20,000 words.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory and combined with my own translation practice,this translation practice report takes the operation and maintenance guidance manual as an example to study the language features of the operation and maintenance guidance manual,discuss the translation strategies and methods of this guidance manual,and summarize my translation experience.This report mainly includes five chapters.The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the translation task,mainly focusing on the source of the task,the requirements of the task and the introduction of the text.The second chapter describes the translation process,mainly including preparation before translation,work during translation and proofreading after translation.The third chapter introduces functional equivalence theory,and briefly explains the application of functional equivalence theory in this translation practice.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,the fourth chapter analyzes the text from the perspective of lexical level,syntactic level and textual level,summarizes translation strategies,and makes example analysis.The fifth chapter summarizes the translation practice,expounds the experience gained from the translation practice,sums up the existing problems,and puts forward the corresponding improvement measures.The author hopes that the study of the translation practice report can improve my own translation ability,put forward some feasible translation methods and strategies,and provide reference value for the future translation of the guidance manual.
