With the rapid development of Chinese as a foreign language,more and more researchers begin to pay attention to the teaching of Chinese characters as a foreign language.As one of China's neighbors,the Philippines has incomparable advantages in geography and culture.As volunteer teacher in the Philippines,this article guided by the theory of second language acquisition and interlanguage theory,combined with the author's teaching experience finds that there are many problems in Chinese teaching situation in the Philippines international school.For instance,students lose interest in Chinese learning,teaching material cannot be unified,teach complicated and simplified characters at the same time,which hinders the development of the Philippine international school Chinese teaching.I have done some researches on Chinese teaching in international schools.The article consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,which briefly describes the research reason of this paper,summarizes the research results of Chinese character teaching at home and abroad,and expounds the research content,research significance and research methods of this paper,which provides a train of thought for the research of this paper.Secondly,this paper introduces the development of Chinese characters from five aspects in the Philippines International School: teaching mode,students,teachers,teaching material selection and the teachers and students view of YCT&HSK,combined with questionnaire results of international school teachers and students of questionnaire survey in the third part.The author considers the teachers and students to learn Chinese characters cognition and the way the classroom teaching as the main problems,one of the students to learn Chinese characters cognition for the outstanding issues.The fourth part,this article focuses on students Chinese writing errors analyzed with the theory of Chinese characters,and the theory of cognitive psychology related theories,which draw a conclusion that the writing errors can be linked with fuzzy recognition of Chinese characters structure of students and enormous Chinese characters and themselves with dual peculiarities of phonograph and ideograph.Finally,the article puts forward the corresponding teaching strategies for the two reasons.It is hoped that this study not only can provide reference for other fellow members of the same profession,but also be helpful in relieving Philippine students of their difficulty in Chinese characters study,and realize the personalized and efficient teaching of Chinese characters as soon as possible,so as to promote the vigorous development of Chinese character teaching in Philippine international school.
