Amounts of Indian students choose to come to China for medicine study or culture study at present. In order to make their study and life convenient in China, improving their Chinese mandarin level is required urgently. Now mandarin has been their required course after they came to China. In the meantime, phonetic is the material outer covering of the linguistic as well as the carrier of the meaning. It is always shown to the listeners as the most intuitive part in language. Such the learning of the phonetic is crucial for students. In term of the Chinese mandarin quality they have to master, it plays an important role.This paper is about the survey and research of Chinese mandarin phonetic from 20 Indian students, whose mother tongue is Indian.These students are studying in He Bei Medical University, based on the contrastive analysis theory, error analysis theory and relevant theories of interlanguage. Through questionnaire(1), this paper surveys several aspects like study motive, study methods, the teaching methods they are receiving now etc. In doing so, it establishes a firm foundation for the analysis of error reasons and teaching strategies. This paper also surveys the pronunciations of the students in the way of recording their sound in questionnaire(2). Referred to the contrastive research between the Indian and Chinese mandarin, and also combined with questionnaires and the teaching experience, this paper analyses phonetic errors, then finds out the reasons of them, and puts forward teaching strategies.There are 4 chapters in this paper. The introduction part depicts the research value, significance, purpose, content, and some related domestic and oversea theories, the relevant theoretical basis, survey process, research methods and subjects.In chapter 2, this paper describes the important and difficult points in the process of learning Chinese mandarin for those whose mother tongue is Indian, through the comparisons in consonants, vowels, tone and variation.In chapter 3, this paper analyzes errors that occurred to Indian students. First of all, analyzing the recording materials to count four parts error rates : consonants, vowels, tones, variation are available. Then the following part in this chapter is about the analysis of the reasons for errors.In chapter 4, this paper put forward teaching strategies from the whole phonetic teaching, consonants, vowels, tone and variation according to the analysis of foregoing error-reasons and the consequences in questionnaire 1.Last but not least, the final part is on summary and the deficiencies of this paper.
