Since the establishment of Tiong Se Academy School in 1899,Chinese education in the Philippines has experienced more than 100 years.And how to continue the development of Chinese education is an urgent problem to be solved.This paper takes elementary Chinese learners in Xavier School Nuvali in the Philippines as the research object.Through questionnaires,statistics and interviews,this paper analyzes the situation of Chinese teaching and students' difficulties in learning Chinese.From this,I found the problems of this school in terms of teachers,students,textbooks and Chinese noumenon knowledge.I also try to use my teaching experience to put forward my own opinions and suggestions from two aspects:Xavier School Nuvali and its teachers.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction,which is divided into five sections.The first section of the introduction is the origin of the topic,this part introduces the background of this paper.The second section is the research object of this paper.The third section of the introduction discusses the present situation of Chinese education research in the Philippines.The fourth section briefly summarizes the research ideas.The fifth section summarizes the significance of this paper.The second part is a brief introduction of Xavier school,which consists of six sections,including the history of Chinese teaching in Xavier school,the main body of the school and the status of teachers,Chinese teaching management,the selection of teaching materials and curriculum installation,the students' language background and the teaching evaluation methods.The third part is a survey of the basic situation of Chinese teaching in Xavier School Nuvali,consisting of two sections.The first section elaborates the investigation method,the investigation object and the investigation process used by the author.In the second section,the author analyzes the elementary Chinese learning problems of students in Xavier School Nuvali with the help of the results of the questionnaire survey.The main manifestation is that:(1)the teaching management system of Chinese teachers in Xavier School Nuvali is not sound,the schedule of Chinese classes is not reasonable,and the examination results are not taken seriously;(2)the faculty of Xavier School Nuvali is unstable,the level of Chinese education is limited(3)there are too many new words in the Chinese textbooks selected by the school,the English translation of some new words is not accurate and the distribution is not reasonable,and the structure,usage and usage of grammar points are not explained.(4)Chinese ontology knowledge is difficult to learn,and students are prone to make mistakes in pronunciation,Chinese characters,vocabulary and grammar;(5)students lack of Chinese cultural identity and motivation to learn Chinese.In the fourth part,I try to provide corresponding suggestions for the Chinese language teaching in Xavier School Nuvali according to the problems mentioned above,it mainly focuses on Xavier School Nuvali,its teachers.From the school's perspective,it mainly includes cultivating local Chinese teachers,establishing a teacher evaluation system,strengthening the training of Chinese teachers,reforming the assessment standards of students' Chinese performance,and paying attention to students' Chinese learning needs.From the perspective of teachers,it mainly includes efforts to improve their own quality,take advantage of the internet,and enhance students' cultural identity,etc.Finally,the author gives corresponding solutions according to students' most common problems in pronunciation,Chinese characters,vocabulary and grammar.For the problems of textbook,my view is to take its essence and adjust the unreasonable parts appropriately.The fifth part is the conclusion,which expounds the main points and shortcomings of this paper.
