On James' Pragmatic View Of Truth

This paper discusses William James' view of truth,focusing on whether James'view of truth is a relativist view of truth,which is one of the focus issues in the debate about James' view of truth.Scholars has two different positions on this issue:Russell,Moore,Pratt etc.think that James' view of truth is a relativist view of truth,while Perkins and Putnam think that James' view of truth is not a relativist view of truth.This paper first defines the relativist view of truth,and then expounds the theoretical background and main content of James' view of truth,then analyzes the criticism and defense of James' view of truth,and several representative views for discussion,on this basis,according to James's works,it is concluded that his view of truth is not a relativist view of truth.
